John P. Strother letter : Fresno, Calif., to Juliet Wells Brier : ALS, 1903 Feb. 16.

Letter concerning San Francisco Chronicle article of Feb. 15, 1903, about the Jayhawkers, regarded as the first people to cross Death Valley, Calif. Strother recognizes Brier's picture from the article and writes that she had been his teacher at the summer school at Mt. Gilead in Henry County, Kentucky. He briefly mentions his wife and children, his time as a judge and state senator in Missouri, and that he had come to Calif. in 1891.
